This was the 4th year of SC ComicCon and this event is really growing fast. We had a great turnout of troopers and an incredibly busy two days of staffing the 501st booth. We were very fortunate to have the legendary sculptor Brian Muir attending the convention… he spent an amazing 45 years working in the film industry and is largely known for being the sculptor of the iconic Darth Vader and Stormtrooper helmets. Brian is also an honorary member of the 501st Legion, and his wife Lindsay is a friend of the Legion, and we were honored to staff their booth with Stormtroopers and Darth Vader throughout the weekend. On Saturday afternoon, the two of them came over to our booth for a Garrison photo and we presented Brian with a personalized Carolina Garrison shirt and a 15 year anniversary patch, which he was very thankful for and happy to receive. They will both be at Star Wars Celebration in Orlando and I highly reccomend taking the time to meet them, they are two of the nicest people you’ll ever encounter.
Thanks to everyone who trooped, staffed the table, and assisted in making this troop such a success. I’m already looking forward to next year and planning an even better 501st experience.
Congratulations to Will Taylor, John Leppard, Skylar Leakey, and Matt Cohen for their first troop!
A big thanks to Genesis Garza, the lone Rebel Legion member to attend and troop from start to finish on both days and help break everything down at the end.
