Myrtle Beach Polar Plunge

The Myrtle Beach Polar Plunge is an annual event organized by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Torch Run to raise funds for athlete programs supported by the Special Olympics South Carolina. The event involves participants plunging into the ocean waters in Myrtle Beach during the winter months to generate awareness and raise funds for the cause.

This year, 6 members of the Carolina Garrison, a local chapter of the 501st Legion, participated in the event to help support the cause. The Garrison’s team raised $1,746, which contributed to the total of $104,602 raised during the event. The Carolina Garrison was represented by Rob Wojciechowski, Tommy Fennel, Jeff Miller, Christopher South, Austin Craig, and LaDene Fennel.

The Special Olympics South Carolina provides year-round sports training and competition to over 30,000 children and adults with intellectual disabilities. The funds raised during the Myrtle Beach Polar Plunge go directly to athlete programs supported by the organization. The event is not only a fundraiser but also a way to bring the community together and generate excitement for the cause. Participants of all ages and backgrounds come out to show their support, take the plunge, and make a difference in the lives of those with intellectual disabilities.

The Carolina Garrison’s participation in the Myrtle Beach Polar Plunge demonstrates their commitment to supporting charitable causes in their community. As part of the global 501st Legion organization, the Garrison regularly participates in events that support a range of charitable causes, including those that benefit children and individuals with disabilities. Their participation in the Myrtle Beach Polar Plunge showcases their dedication to making a positive impact in their community and helping to raise awareness and funds for important causes.
