25 Years Since 9/11

Here we are, 25 years after September 11, 2001.

On that day, 2,977 people were killed in the terrorist attacks on our country. Among those who lost their lives were 343 members of the FDNY, 72 law enforcement officers, including 23 NYPD officers and 37 Port Authority Police officers, and eight EMTs and paramedics who responded to the World Trade Center.
It’s important that we continue to remember those who were lost and the sacrifices made that day, and that we continue to honor those lost so future generations understand what happened and why we remember.

But today, I also want to take a moment to thank the members of the Carolina Garrison who have chosen lives of service. To our firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMS and rescue personnel, other first responders and volunteers, active duty military members, and veterans, thank you for the sacrifices you have made and continue to make in service to your communities and country.

Twenty five years later, please take a moment today to remember those who were lost, those who ran toward danger and those among us who continue to answer that call to serve.
