Yay! Glad we got invited back for this year! It was kind of a bummer that it got cancelled because of the rain last year
HELLO everyone!!! It is now 1 month away until Shelby Parade!!! After last years rain out I’m EPICALLY excited for this event!!! About 2 weeks prior the parade committee will send out the info and our lineup number. Those who are going please email me so I can forward you that info. The float from last year got damaged so I’ve been rebuilding and using a slightly different version of a previous float I saw. Anyone else interested please signup…Thanks again!!!!
I believe there might be some sign ups from Rebel Legion as well!

I just got word that the parade info will be emailed out the end of this week. Once I get that I will post and email everyone the info and plans for meeting up. The parade is scheduled from 3-6pm but we will all need to be suited up and meet prior to that…

I’m unable to “cancel” my sign up spot to change my costume, but I’ll probably be going as Stormtrooper instead of Scout Trooper
Make sure you go into Garrison Events and not Events… I can see the cancel button for you, so hopefully you’ll be able to see it too.
I was able update when I went back in. For whatever reason I could also see the cancel button but clicking it did nothing
I did not receive an email Friday from committee HOWEVER, I will be sending out emails, & posting info from last year about where to meet up, suit up, and maps by the end of today!!

Tom Heck (X-wing Pilot with Segway) and possibly his son on Speeder Bike Segway said they are planning on attending as well.

Our Lineup spot is on Lafayette St. between Seaboard & East Kendall St. in front of Laughlin Furniture.
1245pm-130pm – arrive at the parking lot behind the Comic Book Store.
THE EARLIER YOU ARRIVE THE BETTER WITH STREET CLOSURES.
I have large candy canes if anyone wants to carry one.
I have a banner that I will need 2 people to hold and march infant of my truck with. Anyone, interested in that please let me know.
Those on the Segways will be behind the float so you have room to figure 8 around.

I have highland the parking lot in with a green arrow. This is where you all will park cars and suit up. My plan is to have the float there as well to transport us all to the lineup stop which is a few blocks down. We will be able to set up our float and line up starting at 145pm till 230pm. PARADE STARTS @ 300PM!!!
I will have the parking lot area sectioned off with cones for you all.
There will be a bathroom available at the Comic Book Store. I will also have water, snacks, and HOT COFFEE!!

Shows where the drop off/unloading area is. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to drive us all back to the Comic Book Store or not. It’ll depend on the traffic but I’ll try. If not, then we have to walk back.

Below is the Info Email from the Committee. Please read it over.
Float Participants
You will be able to access your floats beginning at 1:45 pm. If you need to bring in items, please unload them and remove your vehicles from the staging area. Your participants can arrive as late as 2:45 pm but will not be allowed to bring vehicles into the staging area.
Please do not arrive after or before your assigned time slot.
A few things to review:
1. If you are a car or motorcycle club, you are limited to 10 vehicles/motorcycles unless you paid for additional space.
2. We have the lineup route lined up based on the size of the item you listed for your entry i.e., a truck with trailer, car, walkers, etc.
3. If you have horses, it is your responsibility to diaper them and clean up any accidents that happen.
4. If you have dogs, it is your responsibility to clean up any accidents that happen. Additionally, all dogs that are not inside a vehicle must be on a leash and are not allowed to run freely.
5. DO NOT THROW CANDY. If you have candy, you may hand it to spectators. This is a safety issue.
6. The lineup is set, please do not ask for changes.
7. Again, this year Cleveland Community College C19 will be broadcasting the parade live and some additional times during the week. They will use parts if not all of what you submitted, there is limited time for commentary for each entry.
After 1 pm Tuesday, November 26 both items and other information will be posted at http://www.uptownshelby.com

Thank you to everyone who registered to be in the Uptown Shelby Christmas parade! Here are a few rules and tips to acknowledge as a parade participant to help us have another successful and fun Christmas parade!
1. It is CRUCIAL that you adhere to your lineup timeframe for BOTH your vehicle entry and participants. Please be sure to arrive at your assigned location on time. Your vehicle may have a different arrival time than your participants.
2. It is imperative that your participants arrive promptly. For safety reasons, barricades WILL NOT be moved due to tardiness. Barricades are only moved for the assigned vehicle entry.
3. Be respectful to everyone involved, from staff to volunteers and the other participants. Please remember you are a representative of your organization and this community.
4. All performances and routines must be in continuous forward motion. Please always keep at least 25 feet between entries.
5. For safety, candy cannot be thrown.
6. Per the City of Shelby Police Department and the Uptown Shelby Association, ALL wheels must always remain on the street. For the safety of both the participants and spectators, there will be no burnouts, wheelies, or stunts. You will be immediately removed from the parade if this occurs.
7. Please share all the information, maps, and details with your organization’s participants. They have specific instructions on where to be in the lineup. Again, barricades will not be moved for the safety of staff and volunteers.
8. Any poor conduct, decor, or participation of any unit or individuals deemed inappropriate will result in immediate removal from the parade.
9. Please decorate your float with Christmas decor and help us spread the Christmas spirit and cheer throughout Uptown Shelby!

ATTENTION!!!
just received updated information regarding our float lineup. We are actually designated a time now to be on Lafayette Street.
I will have to have the truck parked at the lineup spot between 1-130pm. That means I won’t be able to stay at the comic book store and drive you all to the lineup area like I had originally stated.
If there is a handler or 2 who can drive you all to the lineup location and then back to the bookstore that might be the best bet.
I will post this also on the Garrison forum under the calendar of events.
