Are you ready to join the ranks of the 501st Legion? It’s easy to get started simply fill out our Membership Inquiry Form and check out the requirements on our main website. There, you’ll find links to specific detachment websites, where you can explore our Costume Reference Library and learn more about what we do.
Don’t worry we’ll keep you in the loop every step of the way. You’ll receive updates throughout the approval process so you can stay informed about the status of your application.
For current members, the process of getting a new costume approved is a breeze. Our Garrison Armorer team is here to guide you through the process and ensure that your costume meets our exacting standards. Once your costume is ready, they’ll send your approval pictures to our Garrison Membership Liaison team for a final decision.
Detailed Approval Process
Communicate intent of new membership or new costume registry to a Garrison Armorer (GA) via the new member contact form or email the GA team. The role of the Garrison Armorer is to guide new applicants through the costume approval process and to make sure that a costume passes 501st Legion standards prior to final approval by the Garrison Membership Liaison (GML) team.
Once initial contact with the GA team is made, feedback and/or next steps will be communicated by the GA to prospective new member/new costume registrant by email.
If all new membership or new costume qualifications are met, the GA will escalate to the GML team for final approval.
- If final approval is not met, the GML communicates feedback and/or next steps to GA and the prospective new member/new costume registrant by email
- If final approval is met, the GML will contact the CO, XO, and prospective member/new costume registrant by email.
Timeline Expectations
The expected wait time for first contact by GA by email is no more than two days. This communication from the GA to the applicant will include a greeting, and may include initial feedback on applicant’s submission for issues such as:
- No photos, or not enough photos
- Photos with poor or distorted lighting
- Photos not showing complete costume for front/back/side/pose
