SUMMARY:May the 4th Pediatric Hospital Visit: Raleigh
DESCRIPTION:Venue: WakeMed Raleigh campus

****NOTE: In order to provide the safest environment possible for its staff and patients, Wake Med is requesting that all characters wear a helmet covering their face.****

Once you have pulled onto the Main Visitor Entrance drive, you will see the Main Visitor Parking Deck Green P1. There is a pedestrian bridge connecting this parking deck to the hospital. Park on level 1 through 3 and return to the ground level and walk across the street to the Main Visitor Entrance. There is no charge for parking. The Child Life Supervisor will be ready to greet you on the Ground Level of the E-Tower Main Visitor Lobby on August 29th at 9:30 AM.

Photographs: A WakeMed Photo Consent Form must be signed if photos of pediatric patients and/or family members will be taken for publishing purposes. We do not obtain a WakeMed Photo Consent Form for photos taken by caregivers and family members with their personal devices during Children’s Special Guest Visitor events.
*For multiple organization use of photographs, WakeMed Marketing and Communications will need to review and approve photo consent form presentation.

Considerations for a Successful Visit:
Please be prepared to interact with all ages of children in the hospital during your visit. The patients in the Children’s Hospital range in age from birth to 17 years of age with a variety of diagnoses including cancer, blood disorders, surgical recovery, respiratory problems, trauma recovery, and mental health and well-being. The average length of a hospital stay in our pediatric unit is 3-5 days, while in other settings children may be hospitalized for longer periods of time.
Because of the rapid turnover rate and acuity level of the patients, we are unable to guarantee the size and age of the audience. A Child Life staff member will be supervising the entire event and can answer any questions that may arise.
We prefer to focus on the positive aspects of the child’s stay in the hospital. Therefore, please refrain from asking patients and/or families about the child’s diagnosis, reason for hospitalization, how long they have been hospitalized, or when they will go home.
Because the hospital serves a variety of cultures, please respect the diversity of religious beliefs that you may find on the unit.

**All Confidentiality and Attestation Forms will be collected by Child Life or Marketing prior to guests being escorted to any pediatric service area for this visit.**
