DESCRIPTION:The North Carolina Azalea Festival Parade is one of Wilmington’s signature spring events, a downtown parade along Third Street known for big crowds, decorated floats, giant balloons, marching bands, dance groups, and other community entries. Local coverage has described it as a festive, high-energy parade that fills downtown with spectators and performances, and festival materials call it one of the largest street parades in the Southeast.

This year, the Carolina Garrison will again appear on a float sponsored by New Hanover County, continuing the same arrangement used last year. The float gives the Carolina Garrison a strong presence in one of the region’s biggest public events and places us right in the middle of the pageantry, civic pride, and community celebration that define the Azalea Festival Parade.
